BIOGRAPHY

John Messina

Mr. Messina is a founding partner of Messina & Hankin LLP. He was a partner from 2008 to 2012 with Kelly Lytton & Williams LLP and founding partner from 2012 to 2016 with Lytton Williams Messina & Hankin LLP. He represents business entities, government agencies, and individuals in civil litigation dealing in matters regarding corporate and real estate finance, contracts, land use, and business torts. He also represents clients in non-litigation matters, including business organization, real estate leases and purchase contracts. Additionally, he currently holds the position of Associate Judge at the Intertribal Court of Southern California, a position he has held since 2009, and is the Reserve Captain of the Investigative Reserve Unit of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department; he has been a Reserve Deputy Sheriff with 

with the Sheriff’s Department since 2001.

Mr. Messina graduated from the Southwestern Law School with a Juris Doctor in 1993. He received a Bachelor of Arts, with honors distinction, in Business Management from the University of Redlands in 1982 and is a graduate of St. Don Bosco Technical Institute where he completed his course of study in Manufacturing Technology. He was admitted to practice in California in 1994 and by the Federal Bar Association in 2013. In addition, he has completed course work for Tribal Court Judges with the National Judicial College in 2015 and is recognized as an Expert Network Distinguished Lawyer.

Mr. Messina is the author of the book "California Commercial Lease Option Purchase Agreements Line by Line: A Detailed Look at California Commercial Lease Option Purchase Agreements and How to Change Them to Meet Your Needs,” published in 2009, and has authored numerous articles and research reports.

Mr. Messina has been recognized for his contributions to the legal industry by multiple organizations and publications. The Legal Network named him to the Top Lawyers in California in 2015, Inland Empire Magazine named him as an Inland Empire Top Lawyer since 2013, San Diego Magazine has recognized him as one of the Top Lawyers in San Diego since 2013, and Los Angeles Times named him in Southern California’s Top-Rated Lawyers on multiple occasions starting in 2012. He also holds a Preeminent Peer Review Rating (AV) by Martindale-Hubbell, he holds an Avvo Top Rating of 10.0, and received the Avvo Clients’ Choice Award in 2013.
